Go, Carter, Go!

Carter is a big Go, Diego, Go fan. I took him to ToysRUs to find a new Diego toy. I've never seen a toddler that good in a toy store! He is a sweet boy! Then we stopped per his request at McDonald's. He ate his entire happy meal! We are at Omaw's where he is happily playing with Diego and the submarine. Omaw is loving her time with him. He just asked to go swimming. Off we go....later.

Hot Summer Afternoon

When I was sewing this afternoon the sun and heat were horrific so I closed the shades. I walked through and thought, "What a picture of summer there is... right at my table." The sunflowers were from the csa that Vickie and I are a part of and of course the sewing machine is my latest obsession.
Just picture perfect!

A Daddy Bag

At Jaime's shower on Sunday, Theo complained about having to carry a "girl type" diaper bag so I was up for the challenge to make a "Daddy Bag" for him. Tell me what you think.

I bought the brown bag. I made a wipe cover, blanket and instant bib strap. I also made a burp cloth and a wet bag that are not pictured because they are in the washing machine.

Cooking Lunch: A Blogging Tribute to Wonderful Women

Even though the people that I'm dedicating this post to were not invited to lunch today...I love them both and thought about them as I prepared this noon time meal. The first dedication is to my sister Laney. I told her on Monday, when I surprised her at work to wish her a Happy Birthday, that I needed to stay home so that I wouldn't spend any money (and I could sew.) She even called me Tuesday to check and make sure I was home! The second dedication is to my cooking friend, Brandi. She loves to make meals without going to the grocery store...using what she has on hand. Laney and Brandi, I cooked lunch today for Don's family and I didn't have to go to the store...I didn't leave the house AND I used what I had on hand.
Menu was something like this: tomatoes stuffed with fresh shrimp salad dressed with mixed greens, havarti crescent rolls, and cream of green bean soup. Dessert was the fudge pie from the previous post. The best part about lunch was the sweet look on my hubby's face that said, "I'm so proud of you." PRICELESS

Recipe of the Week

Fudge Pie

If you need a pie in a hurry this is the one for you.

The one ingredient that you need to keep on hand for this quick and delicious pie is "Choco Bake."

This is how it is packaged. Sometimes it is hard to find so be on the look-out and buy a box when you find it.

Here is the recipe:

1 cup sugar

1 cup stick butter

2 eggs

1 package choco-bake (Not the whole box!)

2/3 cup flour

1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter in a medium pan. Add sugar and mix well. Remove from heat and beat in eggs, choco-bake, flour and vanilla. Nuts are optional. Pour in a 9 inch pie pan, ungreased. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.

Great served with ice cream, coolwhip, or fresh berries.

Bradley and Papaw's FishingTrip

Today Bradley went fishing at Eagle Lake with Don for the first time. He was so excited. According to Bradley, "We caught 37 bream and a 28 lb bass." Sounds like he'll be a great fisherman if he can tell a fishing tale like that on his first trip.

Going.....Green

GREEN: I've invited the family over for a multipurpose Father's Day/Baby Shower party. I hope that the family received their evite. That was new to me...inviting by email but I think it is cool. I'm all about going green! Try walking everywhere for awhile. You should have seen how sweaty I was when I walked to Brookshire's this week...NOT!!!!

GOING: It is only a few weeks until my baby girl is moving away for the first time. I know that it will be a great experience for her and her family. I'm so excited for them! I am glad for Theo and his career that this move has come. He is such a good man and deserves all the good things God has in store for him. Flip side....I'm going to miss them soooooooo much!

How to keep a husband

These steps are only for women who have a husband that they want to keep!

1. Make a home that is your husband's favorite place to be.

2. Keep him satisfied.

3. Make him feel like you couldn't live without him.

4. Let him protect you.

5. Pamper him (but not too much)

6. Let him know you adore him.

More sage advice to follow.

So I Sew

It has been years since I've made a garment

so as my first project I decided to start small.

It is soooo cute!
Last week, we had Bradley's birthday party at our house. He was so glad that many of his cousins came. He loves his family so much. This is the Lego cake he wanted me to make. His mom made a lego pinata which was quite the "hit " of the party! Bradley is a big 8 year old. Hard for me to believe that tiny 2 lb. baby is such a big boy! Grandma loves you Bradley!
